Seanook
Seanook is a long-time family summer cottage which is gradually turning into a year-round home. It is a delightful work-in-progress, available for weekly rental in all seasons, and also with a 2 night minimum in winter and 3 in spring. We hope you will find it as unique and special as we do.
Location
Seanook is located on its own little rocky point right on the shore of Linekin Bay. When you are here, you can just sit and watch the play of light on the water and feel sequestered from the worldly hustle. But beyond that you are centered in Mid-Coast Maine at the hub of what goes on: boat excursions, both tall ships (sail) and power, or bring your own; kayaking by renting or using yours; fishing on a commercial expedition, or do it yourself; hiking on the many Land Trust well maintained trails, or right out the door; antiquing is important in this whole area; theatre at our refurbished Opera House and more; and as to gourmet dining, there are no better restaurants than right here in Boothbay. We are about an hour and a half by car from Portland International Jetport and three and a quarter hours from Boston. Amtrak connects the two cities, or you can take a bus all the way to Wiscasset. You can find directions to Seanook here.

When to Visit
Summer (June 27 - September 11, 2009) is the most popular time to visit the Maine coast. The air is warm and the water temperature is mild. The days are long and the wildlife comes alive. Outdoor activities are endless both on and off the water. Children of all ages enjoy exploring the beaches to discover different creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Anglers can fish right off the dock, or it may be used to launch a day of exploring in your own boat.
Fall is a fantastic season for staying at Seanook. Daytimes are mild and the nighttimes are perfect for an evening fireplace fire and a soak in the hot-tub. Fall foliage in the northeast is spectacular. Our peak color is usually the middle week in October but the scenery is excellent for a couple of weeks before and after this. Visit MaineFoliage.com for more info. Take advantage of our shoulder season rates (September 12 through October plus Thanksgiving week).
Winter - Snug and toasty by the fire and surrounded by water on three sides, you can watch the storms sweep across the bay, the varying ice formations float back and forth, the seasmoke, the many varieties of ducks flying, floating and diving, the seagulls riding the updrafts, and an occasional eagle. In Boothbay Harbor, just three miles away, the best restaurants are still open and there is plenty of parking; the pace is a little slower and the attention a little warmer. Our winter season rates make staying at Seanook this time of year a real value. They extend from November 1, 2008 (except Thanksgiving week) all the way through May 21, 2010.
Spring in Midcoast Maine comes around Memorial Day and lasts through most of June. It brings warm temperatures for both air and water, as the clouds give way to sunshine. Writers find Seanook a peaceful private retreat where they can work on their manuscripts. This is an ideal time of year to take advantage of our shoulder season rates and three night minimum from May 23 to June 26, 2009 and May 22 to June 25, 2010.
