Two people can enjoy three nights of pristine relaxation at Seanook for $375, or rent a week for $1250 and get 2 FREE NIGHTS! (Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks are at $1450/week, but we can still add the 2 free nights!)

Seanook is your peaceful get-away to that long view overlooking the water. See the Seanook “Pictures” section on the drop-down menu above. Winter at Seanook is the best time for relaxing. Sit by the fire and enjoy watching the weather waft across the bay, ice floats, and the antics of the various species of ducks as they dive under water and get chased by seagulls when they emerge with food. If you are lucky enough to get a snowstorm, the views are pristine.

NOTE: As of September 2012 we will not be renting any more long stays (a month or more at a time) at Seanook for the 2012-2013 winter season so as to leave the time open for those who want to come for shorter stays through April 25, 2013.

Quebec week: This is not in Boothbay, but in Quebec, Canada.

Our timeshare at Mt. St. Anne de Beaupree, Quebec is available the week of January 6 – 13, 2013, Sunday to Sunday. It is a two bedroom, two bath (one tub-shower, one washer-dryer) condo 20 minutes outside of Quebec city at the foot of Mt. St. Anne downhill and cross country ski areas. This time is particularly nice between the holidays and Winter Carnival, so it is less crowded. Enjoy the best the season has to offer in an old world French setting for $800 for the week. Seanook is a long-time family summer cottage which is gradually turning into a year-round vacation home. Located in Mid-Coast Maine,

Seanook has a unique vantage point in East Boothbay perched on its own rocky point with four decks and floor to ceiling windows unfolding water views in three directions, including a tantalizing vista to the mouth of Linekin Bay and the open Atlantic. Watch spectacular sunsets as you enjoy the cool sea breezes or bask in the glow of the fireplace stove. Seanook is so close to the water that the tide comes in around and under it. Being here is like staying on a boat, except it doesn’t rock. On a rainy night the pitter-pat on the roof will lull you to sleep. Wake up to the call of seabirds and the sloshing of little waves.

Seanook is an ideal place for a small reunion or retreat. Yet we welcome a couple as readily as a family or group. Enjoy our seclusion in summer as a weekly rental; other times as a weekend getaway or monthly vacation house. If immersing yourself in the relaxation of our spot doesn’t float your boat, you can venture out to discover coastal activities in nearby Boothbay Harbor. Live theater, artist studios, gourmet seafood restaurants, antiquing, boating excursions, fishing or kayaking on the ocean, or hiking the lush Maine woods are some of the activities to be found in this area.

When you are here, you can choose to sit and watch the play of light on the water and feel sequestered from the worldly hustle. Or beyond that you will be centered in Mid-Coast Maine at the hub of what goes on, which is not limited to the following:

*Boat excursions on commercial ships out of Boothbay Harbor or plan your own charter at http://www.hayvalcharters.com, or bring your own boat to tie up at our dock (please see our “rates” schedule);

*Kayaking by renting or using yours or ours;

*Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, http://www.mainegardens.org, world class gardens, with lunch restaurant and education center. You could spend the better part of a day or two here.

We are about an hour and a half by car from Portland International Jetport and three and a quarter hours from Boston. Amtrak connects Boston to Brunswick, or you can take a bus all the way from Boston to Wiscasset. You can find directions to Seanook here.

When to Visit

Summer (June 23 – September 9, 2012) is the most popular time to visit the Maine coast. We offer weekly vacations at lower rates for the first and last two weeks of summer. (See our Shoulder Season rates.) The days are long and provide plenty of time for observing wildlife. Outdoor activities are endless both on and off the water. Children of all ages enjoy exploring the beaches to discover different creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Anglers can fish right off the dock, or it may be used to launch a day of exploring in your own boat or one that you rent. Take advantage of our slightly lower rate for the first two and two weeks of summer.

Fall (September 8 – October 26, 2012 + Thanksgiving week) is a fantastic season for partaking of the splendors that surround Seanook. Daytimes are mild and the nighttimes are perfect for an evening by the fireplace. Fall foliage in the northeast is spectacular. Our peak color right here on the bay is usually the middle week in October but there is colorful foliage from the end of September right through October. Visit MaineFoliage.com for more info. Take advantage of our lower Fall and Spring rates and our two night minimum.

Winter – (October 29, 2011 – May 18, 2012 except Thanksgiving week) With our two night minimum our winter season rates make lodging at Seanook this time of year a real value. We also have lower monthly rates in Winter. Please see our “Rates” section. To experience the height of a Maine winter come in January or February. Snug and toasty by the fire and surrounded by water on three sides, you can watch the storms sweep across the bay, the varying ice formations float back and forth, the seasmoke on some early mornings, the many varieties of ducks flying, floating and diving, the seagulls riding the updrafts, and an occasional eagle. In Boothbay Harbor, just three miles away, the best restaurants are still open and there is plenty of parking (For McSeagull’s you can drive right onto the dock to park!); the pace is a little slower and the attention a little warmer.

From Seanook in Spring

Spring – (May 19 – June 22, 2012) in Midcoast Maine can keep you guessing. In 2010 the trees leafed out in May instead of June. Warm temperatures for both air and water invite you to come soak up the quiet awakening of nature before the onslaught of summer crowds. Writers find Seanook a peaceful private retreat where they can work on their manuscripts. This is an ideal time of year to take advantage of our two night minimum.

About Mary Ellen

Mary Ellen TK Serina

Mary Ellen’s English art training helps her to sensitively express the ever-changing colors and moods of the Maine coast in her realistic oil seascapes. She grew up summers right here on Paradise Point, East Boothbay. After college, she spent three years in England where she studied oil painting with Mr. E.J. Willey, a landscape artist. For the next thirty years she resided in Colorado where she painted mountains and especially trees. It was her life-long dream to come back to Paradise Point to live. Now she is fulfilling that dream and expressing her love of the Boothbay area in oil paintings, especially seascapes.

Her teacher’s strength was in his depiction of skies, and his crimson underpaintings created a glow throughout the scene. Mary Ellen has expanded on underpainting to cast a mood within each piece dependent on the color that shines through. She finds skies eternally worthy of exploration with color and shade. Her quest for literalness extends sometimes to more than what is seen, and occasionally leaves out the obvious. Recent visitors to Paradise Studio in East Boothbay have commented on the clarity and verity of Mary Ellen’s colors, and that her work is ‘peaceful.’She hopes you delight in her interpretations of the Maine coast.

Rest, relax, read, and absorb the surroundings, or go to Boothbay Harbor, just three miles away for gourmet restaurants, a boat cruise, shops, art galleries, and more.

Paradise Cottage is a year-round 2 bedroom, 2 bath vacation home rented by the week only in Summer and with a 2 night minimum in all other seasons and month long stays in winter. It has a hide-a-bed sofa in the livingroom or “great room” which also includes the dining area and a small, but complete kitchen. The many windows make it light and spacious. Full kitchen, large deck. Optional linen service $25 for just 2 people, $50 for 3-5 people, plus 7% tax.

Although there are four steps minimum to get into Paradise Cottage, the house is laid out all on one level with a wide hall along the back connecting all the rooms and also offering expansive views to the woods behind. The cottage is fully carpeted with floor to ceiling windows that bring the outside in. Two baths make your stay more comfortable. Each room has a door to the deck which borders the house on two sides, expanding the living space of the already large rooms and blending them into the gardens.

Children of all ages enjoy exploring the beaches to discover different creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Our rates vary by number of people. Please see our rates section.
Fall is fantastic time to make Paradise Cottage your lodging center while you explore the radiance of Fall on the water in Maine. Daytimes are mild and the nighttimes are perfect for a soak in the hot-tub. Fall foliage in the northeast is spectacular. Our peak color is usually the middle week in October but the scenery is excellent for a couple of weeks before and after this. Visit MaineFoliage.com for more info. Take advantage of our shoulder season rates (September 11 through October plus Thanksgiving week).

Winter - In Boothbay Harbor, just three miles away, the best restaurants are still open and there is plenty of parking; the pace is a little slower and the attention a little deeper. Our winter season rates make your vacation rental at Paradise Cottage this time of year a real value. For seven months! from October 29, 2011 (except Thanksgiving week) all the way through May 18, 2012 and our rates are exceptionally reasonable starting at $990/wk for two people. We also have lower monthly rental rates in Winter. (See our Rates section) Our Hot Tub is not available in Winter.

Spring in Midcoast Maine is a fresh and delicate season when new growth is beginning. It can start in May and last about a month. It brings warm temperatures for both air and water, as the clouds give way to sunshine. This is an ideal time of year to take advantage of our special spring rental rates from May 19 to June 22, 2012.
